Pro poker great Daniel Negreanu is showing his Canadian pride. The Toronto native made an appearance at this week's International Poker Tours' Texas Hold'Em Poker Tournament for The Canadian Charity Association, held at Paradise Banquet Hall and Convention Centre.
Negreanu is one of the biggest names in professional poker today. Having accumulated $4.4 million in winnings just during 2004, and being all but thirty years old, he's also one of the most promising players on the circuit. This year's accolades include being named ESPN Player of the Year, Card Player Magazine's Player of the Year as well Champion of the Year and runner up for the World Poker Tour's Player of the Year.
This week's Texas Hold'em Tournament was the first in a series of competitions that will ultimately send one player to the World Series of Poker (WSOP). With each event, contenders get one step closer to the WSOP. The tour promotes poker as a recreational sport and tries to prevent the game's competitive nature from getting the better of the experience.
